About Pastels for Pets™

The idea for Pastels for Pets™ was conceived by Laara Sinclaire, a former hair salon stylist trained in Denmark whose practice included many celebrities and prominent social personalities. She wanted to combine her extensive experience in marketing, sales and esthetics with her innate love of and concern for animals. Laara’s entrepreneurial spirit led her to venture into researching the growing number of pet owners and the range of specialized pet products on the market to meet their needs. She was fascinated by how few pet products emphasized the “fun” side of having a pet and decided to focus on developing a specialized, user and pet-friendly line of non-standard hair coloring products exclusively for animals.

After three years of exhaustive trial and error formulation testing with professional chemists, and with the cooperation of generous friends who volunteered the use of their pets, two distinct products emerged in early 2003: gel color for applying to the entire pet or specific areas of the pet’s anatomy, and a thicker coloring paste for manually dabbing onto the pet, using a specially-designed, pre-cut, adhesive stencil. Both products were uniquely entertaining, non-toxic, easy to apply, easily removed with ordinary shampoo and affordable to purchase. Pastels for Pets™ was born in the spring of 2004!
