Q. Why would I want to use these kinds of colors or design images on my pet?

A. It’s an imaginative way to make a fashion statement.

• It’s an excellent way to meet new people and start a conversation
• Just for fun! Cute or interesting pets are a natural magnet for attracting the opposite sex (human, not animal) and can serve as your personal ‘dating service’
• To be noticed, attract attention to some special event or promotion. To stand out from the crowd. To make a distinctive impression. A colored dog can make a great ring barer at any wedding.

Q. Coloring pets and pet hair has been done before. What’s so different about Pastels for Pets™ ?

A. Yes, your observation is true. However, there are some important differences:

• Until now, if you wanted to tint or color your pet’s hair, only human coloring products have been available. These involve complicated processes and lots of time and patience. Would your pet sit still for what women put up with at their hairdresser’s?
• Also, human hair color products color the hair follicles down to the scalp level, whereas Pastels for Pets™ are specially formulated to color your pet’s hair.
• Human hair color products can be harsh on a pet’s more sensitive skin areas, especially the underbelly, ears and rump and do not get shampooed out. Pastels for Pets™ color products contain no harsh or irritating chemicals.
• Pastels for Pets™ products can be easily applied and washed out by the individual. No special knowledge, experience or training is required. You don’t need to go to a hair professional, salon or pet groomer. Of course you always have the option to have Pastels for Pets™ applied by professionals where our products are sold, or to purchase Pastels for Pets™ yourself and leave the application and removal to a professional service, if you prefer.

Q. Is Pastels for Pets™ safe for me and safe to use on my pet?

A. Absolutely! All ingredients used in the manufacture of Pastels for Pets™ Gel and Stencil color products are FDA (United States Food and Drug Administration) approved and guaranteed to be non-toxic: as we mentioned earlier on, if you are a very blond person, this product is even safe for you to use "if Fido lets you".

Q. Are Pastels for Pets™ colors durable? How long will they last following application?

A. Our colors are intended for temporary entertainment and short-term use. They will gradually fade or wear away as your pet behaves normally.

• The basic gel colors will tend to last longer than the stencil colors ordinarily because they are of such different substances. In our own tests, the gel coloring stayed between 3 to 7 days without the pet being bathed, depending on what the pet gets up to. Of course, all the color washes out with the first regular bath and shampoo.
• The Stencil colors, because they are thicker and form a hard crust when dry, will more readily flake off and fade as a result of your pet brushing the colored area against a hard surface such as walls or floors. The duration depends entirely on how active your pet is and its sleeping habits. If it lies down in a wet or damp area, this will tend to cause the coloring agent to ‘smear’ and the shape defined by the stencil to become less distinct. The average time observed in our testing before the stencil product became indistinctly faded or smeared was about 10 days.

Q. What recognized Animal Rights organizations does Pastels for Pets™ support with its donation from my purchase?

A. In the United States, we support the SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). In Canada, we support the Humane Society. Elsewhere in the world, we support the WSPA, which translates as World Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Q. Can I use ordinary stencils or make my own designs? Must I use the Stencils available from Pastels for Pets™ only with the stencil coloring product?

A. Yes and No. Yes, you can use any commercially-available stencil you like and you are encouraged to use your own creativity and imagination in making up your own, if you prefer. However, our stencils have been produced with a special adhesive backing that keeps the stencil in place if your pet moves or fidgets, but will not cause the animal pain or discomfort when removed. By all means experiment on your own. Pastels for Pets™ were created first and foremost for having fun with your pet. Knock yourself out!
